A Sad Goodbye; in memory
To the RP Community:
It's difficult for me to find the words, but I wanted to be as transparent as possible with this. My sister, the head moderator and creator of Duplicity, passed away on October 21st. She went peacefully without any pain, and for that, I'm grateful. I know that she was anon her entire time as the mod but did go by the handle "Fan" – so some of you might have gotten to play with her and/or know her that way. She loved Duplicity very much, and even when she was ill, she always thought about things and how to proceed.
As far as the game is concerned, I have handed over control of things to her wonderful helper mods. Please be kind to them as they try to figure things out as I don't have much information about what she would have wanted for Duplicity. I only know that she was fond of everything and everyone who made the game what it is.
For everyone else reading this, she originally went by Ree (her IRL nickname) and had several plurks. I'm unsure what handle she used for some, but these are the following that I'm aware of:
reexamine,
mistermistyeyed,
teetered &
knivesout-- her most recent.
I don't know who she spoke to or who she was close with via plurk as she was very private, but I figured letting everyone know would have been better than the alternatives.
If there is anyone who would like to or is able to attend, here are the details of her service and where flowers can be sent if that is something you would like to do instead. Likewise, the family has a Gofundme to help cover costs of her funeral.
Regardless, I'm glad she got to be part of this community that I introduced to her years ago, and I'm very glad everyone who had a part in it helped to make it a good experience. If anyone needs to reach me for further details, I'm on discord (dai#8409).
